Quick enough and easy enough for a weeknight! Tasty enough for company!

I love cooking on the grill. I love not having to wash pots and pans. I’m going to use my grill until it is absolutely too cold to keep using it.

They other day I knew I was going to be in a huge hurry at dinner time. I decided to make these meatloaf patties.  This meal even scored a “ten” from all of my boys.  They loved the switch up on traditional meatloaf.  It’s the sauce that takes it over the top.  I could eat this stuff with a spoon.

Basic Meatloaf Recipe

So here’s how you make the meatloaf. Whisk eggs. Add BBQ sauce, mustard, pepper, salt, onion powder, honey and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk to combine.

 Basic meatloaf recipe with oatmeal

Add oatmeal.  I blended mine first because I still don’t love the texture of oatmeal.  If you like oatmeal, just leave it whole and be proud of yourself for saving time.

Basic beef meatloaf

Add ground beef and mix with hands to combine.

Meatloaf Patties for grilling

Form into patties.  After making the patties I put them in the fridge for later.

Preheat grill.  Grill patties over high heat for 6-8 minutes per side. Remove from grill and place on a serving tray. Pour sauce over the top of patties and serve.

The sauce on these grilled meatloaf patties is amazing! I will definately start using it on lots of other things too!

I didn’t take pictures of the sauce making process.  It’s easy though.  I will walk you through it.

1. Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl.

2. Whisk to combine.

3. It is one of those things that gets better as it sits.

4. Refrigerate leftovers!

See. It’s super easy and you don’t really need pictures!

Seriously, this meatloaf is super delicious. It’s a perfect recipe to throw into your busy weeknight rotation.

I like making hamburger patties this way when you are planning to grill them, because they seem to hold together better don’t break apart on the grill. And, as everyone knows, I love homemade BBQ sauce, it is the best. I don’t eat any meat without sauce, so I am with the boys, pour it on. This is a great combination of recipes.

I am glad you are still using your grill and I hope you get to use it for a few more weeks yet.

Speaking of different seasons, I would like to have you demo your stuffed jalapeno peppers so we can serve them during a BSU game. They are the best.

    Love
    Mom

Hi Amy, this looks and sounds delish..I will have to try it real soon before it gets to cold. The Weekend Grillers pinned it on my Pinterest board and so glad they did.

    Amy,
My husband and really enjoy both the flavor of the burgers and the especially the sauce. But, wonder if 1/2 cup of BBQ sauce is correct… our burgers were so moist they fell apart on the grill. Jeff actually referred to them as “grilled sloppy joes.”

And help would be appreciated. Thank you for sharing!

Hmmm! We raise our own beef and it’s really lean. I’m wondering if that’s why I can add extra BBQ sauce to mine and they’ll still stick together. I just got some hamburger that’s more like what you’d buy from the grocery store. I’ll try to make this recipe with that meat and see how it goes! Thanks for letting me know. I can’t wait to experiment with this recipe!

Our family loved this recipe. The meatloaf patties were tender and flavorful (though a bit delicate, as some of them broke apart when flipping them on the grill). And the sauce was delicious! It was easy to make; I will definitely make it again.

I’m glad you loved it! Using a higher fat content ground beef helps the patties to “stick” together, but I still like using a lower fat content sometimes. The sauce is my favorite part!
