BBQ Chicken Rub

This easy BBQ Chicken Rub will quickly become a staple chicken seasoning in your pantry! Use this dry rub for chicken on breasts, thighs, legs, wings, or whatever! It's a great all-purpose chicken seasoning!

  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp sweet paprika
  • 1 Tbsp smoky paprika
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. course ground black pepper
  • 1 TBSP Kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional


  • Add all ingredients to a container with a lid, or a sealable bag. Shake until combined. If needed break up any clumps with a fork or your fingers if you're using a bag.
  • Store chicken rub in an airtight container for up to a month. Store in a dark, dry, and cool place. As it sits the seasonings might get a little bit hard. If needed break up clumps before using.


This chicken rub can be used on wings, breasts, thighs, etc. It's great for grilling, baking, smoking, and slow cooker chicken.
