Foolproof Wheat Bread
This is the perfect whole wheat bread recipe. It is so soft and moist. I timed myself and it took 30 minutes hands on time, plus baking.

Cook Time 35 minutes minutes
Total Time 1 hour hour 5 minutes minutes
Servings 2 1/2 loaves
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon dough enhancer
- 1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice optional
- 5 cups ground wheat flour
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons instant yeast should be added after the flour
- 1-2 cups additional flour
Put all ingredients, except additional flour, in a mixer bowl. I use my Kitchen Aid and it works great.
Mix on low speed until combined. Quickly add enough additional flour for dough to pull half way up the sides of the bowl.
Mix on low speed for 5 minutes. The dough will completely pull away.
Add 1-2 Tablespoons of water if needed to keep dough soft. (I did not need any additional water)
Oil hands and counter. Divide dough into 2 large loaves and one small loaf. That's where I use the "bowl".
Shape into loaves and put in greased bread pans.
Let rise until doubled. About 45 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
If using a thermometer it should read 200 degrees.
