Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Spread

Caramel apple dip is a cream cheese spread served with butter crackers or graham crackers! Trust me, it’s a million times easier to make than dipping homemade caramel apples from scratch and tastes every bit as good!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 cups peeled cored, and finely diced apples
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • dash sea salt optional

Instructions

  • Place cream cheese on a serving plate. Set aside while preparing the apples. It's best if the cream cheese is room temperature when it's served.
  • Peel, core, and dice apples. They should be about the size of a green pea. You want them small so they'll cook quickly, and be easy to dip.
  • In a skillet melt butter over medium high heat. Add apples and saute just until tender.
  • Remove apples from heat and add caramel ice cream topping. Toss to coat apples.
  • Using the back of a spoon create a little bowl in the top of the cream cheese so it will hold more caramel apples! This isn't necessary, but more caramel apples are always a good thing! Spoon apples over cream cheese.

Notes

To make ahead saute the apples. Add caramel sauce and refrigerate. About 30 minutes before serving remove the cream cheese from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature. If you prefer warm caramel apples microwave just until warmed and spoon over cream cheese. Otherwise, take them out of the fridge and spoon over the cream cheese.
This dip is delicious served with graham crackers, butter crackers, pretzels, or sliced fresh apples.
