Glazed Ham Steaks with Pineapple and Brown Sugar

A warm and sweet pineapple sauce perfectly tops ham steaks. It makes an easy weeknight night dinner that is fancy enough to serve to company.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pound ham steaks
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 dash cinnamon

For the Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cup crushed pineapple drained
  • 1 dash cloves
  • 1 dash cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons jelly

Instructions

  • Melt butter, vinegar, cinnamon and brown sugar over medium high heat until combined. Simmer for a couple minutes until bubbly.
  • Add pieces of ham steak to the skillet. Simmer for 5 minutes and flip steaks. Simmer for 5 more minutes. Remove ham slices from the skillet and set on a plate. Cover with aluminum foil and set aside.
  • Add pineapple, cinnamon, cloves, and apple jelly to the skillet. Simmer until thickened.
  • Spoon pineapple sauce over the ham steaks. Serve.

Notes

Jelly: Apple, apricot, or peach jelly will work. If you don't have jelly use honey instead.
Pineapple: Substitute pineapple tidbits or pineapple slices instead of crushed pineapple. 
Storage: Store leftover ham steaks in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
