The little hands at my house are irresistible! Hand turkeys make such cute Thanksgiving Name Place Cards! They are simple and quick to make and the kids are so proud to help! Grandma will surely want to take hers home as a keepsake!
One year I decided that I wanted to involve my kids in the Thanksgiving preparations! I decided these Turkey Name Place Cards would be the perfect thing. They were simple and quick to make. And I loved that my kids were able to be involved. It’s been quiet a few years ago since I did this and I still have them as keepsakes. Seriously, I can’t resist their chubby little hands, which aren’t so little anymore!
I had to help Branson a little bit because he was only three. He is my most particular child, by far. So he was still careful and did a good job! Obviously he wrote on one turkey and I wrote on the back so I could remember when he made it! I have to admit that when I dug these turkeys out they made me smile as I reminisced and they made me get just a small tear too! I want those little hands back!
I had Payson make a new one when he got home from school the other day. We traced his hand and he cut it out!
He wrote Dad’s name on the Place Card.
He cut a beak and gobble (that’s what he calls it). I helped him cut some feet.
Then he glued the eyes, feet and gobble to the turkey body. Done!
You know you can only keep a little boys attention with scissors and glue for only about five minutes. So this is the perfect “craft” for them.
I don’t even mind using these Name Place Cards with a fairly elegant Thanksgiving setting. They are cute with a more casual setting like this one too! Because the content is so personal I think the are welcome on any Thanksgiving tablescape.
Don’t you love little boy handwriting? Me too! Happy Thanksgiving!
Enjoy your little ones. My oldest told me, “Mom if you want me to help you make these, I will. But you are going to need one piece of paper for each hand. Both hands won’t fit on one sheet.” One more little tear!
