Merry Christmas from the Little Dairy! This past year has been a good one filled with lots of changes! We’ve worked too hard and not played enough! Our boys are fun ages though and we enjoy chasing them around and watching them pursue their own hobbies! They’re good boys and that makes life fun!
We hope you’ve had a fantastic year and the New Year brings more wonderful memories with those you love the most!
Years ago I had my boys each tell me what they wanted to say about themselves on my annual Christmas post that has replaced our family Christmas cards. I loved what they had to say so much that it’s now a tradition. Remember, I write exactly what they say, even the um’s and I don’t know’s! They’re getting better at dictating what they want to say!

Merry Christmas from Justin
Merry Christmas everyone! As I look back on the year, I’m thinking…hey, it has been one for the books. I was sad to see my right-hand man, Carson, go on a mission but there is no place I’d rather have him be. I really appreciate all my family for all they do. They really stepped up and helped as we’ve taken on more farm ground, milked more cows, and worked on endless projects that go along with both.
I’m still volunteering as an EMT in our local community. This year I earned my twenty-year pin for serving as a 4-H livestock leader. I’m not sure why I earned it because my wife does most of the work.
I’m grateful for all my blessings and the chance we have to remember the birth of the Savior and what he has done for us.
FROM ME: Justin pretty much just loves to work way too much and that sums up his entire life! We’re trying to loosen him up and change that. Wish us luck because we aren’t holding our breath! Seriously though, he’s the hardest working person I know and is way too kind! He a keeper!
Merry Christmas from Carson
I’m still waiting for Carson to tell me what he wants me to add to his section! He’s a bit busy these days and hard to get ahold of! If he gets back to me I’ll edit this post to include his information!
FROM MOM: Carson had a huge year! He went on an American heritage tour in March, graduated from high school in May. This past year he got his “preacher license so he could perform a marriage ceremony for a friend. It was kind of funny to watch him try and come up with something to say considering he hasn’t ever been married and has only had a girlfriend for short periods of time!
Of course, Carson still loves driving trucks, tractors, farming, team roping and anything that’s outdoors. He bought a Ford Pinto this year, which he sold. He also passed his Mr. West Jeff torch onto the next reigning Mr. West Jeff. He did a citation by Johnny Cash of ‘That Ragged Old Flag’ and he sang 16 Tons by Tennesee Ernie Ford. He really was born a hundred years too late and I just love that about him!
Carson also took an EMT class and passed the test to become a certified EMT this spring. He loved serving other people and really enjoyed knowing more about the medical field.
In July, Carson hung up his spurs and put the tools back in his toolbox to serve a two-year mission for our church. He’s in Oklahoma City and loving it. He’s learning to speak in Spanish and he’s absolutely fallen in love with the Spanish people in Oklahoma! We miss him terribly but are thrilled he is where he is and doing what he’s doing!
Merry Christmas from Branson
This year was a good year. So we have done a lot of good things this year. We didn’t really travel anywhere, but it was good. Carson left on a mission four days after my birthday so I can’t remember what we did for my birthday. We didn’t really build anything this year on the farm which was kind of good because we had other things we needed to do. We cleaned up the farm which we have really never done in our whole lives so that was good, but we still need to do more cleaning. We did a lot of farming this year. We took on some more farm ground.
I went to an egg shoot and won something but the place won’t ship it to me so I can’t get my prize. They said somebody else took it so I guess I don’t get it.
This year I got my driver’s license and I got my own pickup. I learned how to drive a dump truck and we hauled a lot of flippin’ gravel and a lot of straw.
We went to a Garth Brooks concert this year. I’m a sophomore in high school. I got my hardest trimester over with. That’s about it.
FROM MOM: Branson is a very easy person to be around! He’s the most disciplined person I’ve ever known! He turns his homework in on time every single time, he does about a hundred pushups every day, and he hasn’t had a soda pop for almost two years…just because he decided he wasn’t going to drink it for a year which turned into two years. He does his best at everything he does and makes raising teenagers look like a dream! Here’s to crossing our fingers and hoping it stays that way!
Merry Christmas from Payson
I’m going to make Hollywood in a few years, or wherever they sing. Uh. I’m going to sing Chris Ledoux songs. Um. I’m a very attractive person. Uh. I got two new puppies and they’re pretty cool. They will chase me and chase cats. I’m going to get them bred so they can have puppies and I can sell the puppies. So if you’re looking for one, this isn’t a false advertisement, I’ll probably have babies this springtime or a little after.
I’m in sixth grade. I want my dad to get team roping lessons for me so I can get better. I need to start bugging him every day until he does it!
K. That’s it. I’m going to go feed my horses and dogs. Bye.
FROM MOM: What to even say about Payson! This year he’s really had to step up on the farm and help more. One day we were chopping hay in a snowstorm (that’s about as far from ideal as you can get) and he was driving a piece of equipment without a heater. He was wearing a winter hat, gloves, and a coat but he was dancing around and singing in there like it was a party! He’s such a tender-hearted guy that loves all the animals and cares about everyone! And he loves me a lot and I’ll soak that up as long as possible!
Merry Christmas from Me
I’m not sure how the only constant in our lives is how busy they are! When Carson left he also left a huge hole on the farm and the other boys stepped up to help cover his jobs…and I moved to the bottom of the pecking order to cover their jobs! I spent way more time in equipment this year than I have in the past. It’s actually one of my favorite places to be. The bummer of it is that all my work is still waiting for me when I get home.
Keeping books for the farm has gotten busier and it seems like as this little blog grows it takes more and more time too. We enjoy working though and it’s a good thing!
Really, we didn’t do anything exciting that was Christmas card worthy this year. We spent most of the first half of the year chasing Carson around watching him team rope and helping him get ready to leave, and the second half was spent finishing up the farming. And that’s about what your life entails when you are a mom. Chasing kids, chasing cows, and trying to squeeze a little work in on the side!
We’re all healthy and happy so there’s no complaining from me! I truly feel blessed!
