I said it once. And I will say it again. I can’t resist this little boy’s chubby cheeks.
Now that I got that out of the way I can begin my story. This little boy is going to be starting kindergarten this fall. I am going to cry. I decided that I was going to teach this little boy to read before he started kindergarten. I thought it would make school so much easier for him if he had a head start. In my professional opinion (yes, I am a little boy professional), boys need a head start. Especially boys who really dislike sitting in a class room and doing boring indoor activities.
I asked my former teacher friend for suggestions. She’s a former teacher, not a former friend. I had to make sure you understood that. She recommended this book for teaching Littlest Thing to read. Now that we have completed most of the book, I can also recommend this book. It was easy to use and he really did learn fast.
Once again, this is unfortunately not a paid advertisement. However, you can get this book through my Amazon store. Here’s the link http://astore.amazon.com/littledairyon-20/images/0671631985
One day this was the title of the story he was supposed to read. Sometimes I can tell that my kids don’t understand what they are reading because they don’t understand the vocabulary. I stopped Little Thing, and asked him if he understood the words in the title of this story.
Me: “Do you know what Bill is?”
Little Thing: “Yup, it’s all of those papers that you put on the computer and then you pay them.”
See why I am going to cry when the big yellow bus comes this fall? I love my boys. They always make me giggle and appreciate how simple little minds work. We are praying that the summer will last forever!! Along with a little prayer that I can somehow freeze my boys just the way they are right now!!
