Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Appetizer

Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Appetizer is one of the quickest and easiest appetizers you will ever make and is still impressive and so yummy! It begins with a cream cheese base and has salted caramel apples spooned over the top! This is one of my favorite holiday appetizers!

People are going to beg you for this Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Appetizer recipe! It’s so easy I don’t know if it even qualifies as a recipe! Seriously, it’s embarrassingly easy!

My children all get to go to work on Saturdays. They love it, I love it, they earn money, and they help lighten our load on the farm. I must admit when the boys come in the house for they are hungry. That’s what happens to boys anyway, but especially after they have been out chasing cows around, shoveling grain from bins, and who knows what else they do out there.

Last Saturday they came in the house and found Caramel Apple Cream Cheese Appetizer sitting on the table and to say they dug in is an understatement! They had the whole thing devoured in no time. My favorite part was quietly listening to them talk while they devour! They have pretty good stories!

You guys this is so easy. Plop a package of cream cheese on a plate. It will come up to room temperature while you work on the rest.

My favorite way to serve this is with Ritz crackers because I like the little bit of salty flavor it gives to the whole thing. It’s also good with pretzels, vanilla wafers, or graham crackers.

As if drizzling caramel ice cream topping over fried apples wasn’t enough, adding it to cream cheese make it perfect! Just look at that caramel! Oh, and if you want… adding a dash of sea salt is a good choice too!

This is one of those appetizers that’s fancy enough for holiday parties, company, and easy enough to make anytime. I happen to know hungry farm boys like to eat it before their lunch too!

Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz. pkg cream cheese
  • 2 cups peeled cored, and finely diced apples
  • 2 T. butter
  • 1/2 c. caramel ice cream topping
  • dash sea salt
  • Ritz crackers graham crackers, pretzels, or vanilla wafers for serving.

Instructions

  • Place cream cheese on a serving plate. Set aside while preparing the apples.
  • Peel, core, and dice apples.
  • In a skillet melt butter over medium high heat. Add apples and saute just until tender. Remove apples from heat and add caramel ice cream topping. Toss to coat apples.
  • Spoon apples over cream cheese.
  • Serve with crackers.
  • NOTE: If you wanted to prepare this appetizer ahead of time you could saute apples, add caramel and refrigerate them. Just before serving microwave apples until they are warmed through. Allow enough time for cream cheese to come to room temperature before adding apples. Otherwise it will be too firm to spread.
